Goldfish

“I wouldn’t mind turning into a vermillion goldfish.”

Henri Matisse

I love goldfish. Really.

I’m very fond of them.

I even love the crackers, but that’s not what I’m talking about here.

Goldfish and Koi have a magic in them that is otherworldly, a bright flash of gold below the surface of things.

A quick turn of a fin, or tail.

To me they represent that which is just beyond our reach, something we have to search for, the metaphorical treasure in the water of the unconscious.

Our golden soul.

The essence of our being.

My grandchildren named their goldfish Awesome. I think the name is perfect for him.
Their other goldfish is named Spec, which is short for Spectacular.

This big guy lives at Russell's Garden Center in Wayland, Massachusetts.

Here are some of his friends.
Have a great weekend!
